Hard Cases is a weekly open mic, held downstairs at S&Ms, where local comics (and guests, when they're in town) come to test out new material, have a few drinks and just generally be hilarious. Hard Cases is built on the idea of giving anyone and everyone a chance to jump up and give it a go.

We have a different host up every night guiding you through the fun and we've had some superstars of comedy drop by to test new sets. You just never know what's going to happen at Hard Cases. 7pm is showtime so make sure you're settled in with a drink in hand for some big laughs!

When the show is all wrapped up, stick around and sing some karaoke upstairs with the comics and the best karaoke hosts in Wellington to finish off a perfect Thursday.

Show is koha. If you had a good time, then let us know with a donation.

The hosts this month:

9th of March: Advait Kirtikar
Advait is a an award winning comedian. That award being the '2011 Dux of Heretaunga College', which he received for studying really hard and doing well on his exams, AND because he 'quacks' people up. Advait also spent a lot of time trying to come up with a second sentence for his bio; success.

16th of March: Michael Ross
Michael Ross is an aspiring comic from Upper Hutt - but try not to hold that against him. He's smoother than velvet on ice.

23rd of March: Justin 'Rusty' White
Justin "Rusty" White has made his faint, smudgy, icky-looking but persistent mark on the NZ comedy scene by relentlessly not sucking. Often not sucking in front of tiny crowds in faraway locations, sometimes not sucking to hundreds of people performing with some of NZ comedy's biggest names (Urzila Carlson, Ben Hurley, Brendhan Lovegrove, Snap presented by RuseWebsites, Rhys Darby etc) and has made literally dollars in his time as a comedian.

All those gigs to three disinterested drunks in the back end of Bryndwristan have resulted in the comedic equivalent of a swiss army knife: a tool for every eventuality.

“Wilfully offensive and unpleasant” - Canta Magazine “Undoubtedly the highlight of the night” - Caclin Magazine “Needs no introduction” - Art Murmurs

30th of March:
Follow us on Facebook or Twitter to find out more information about who it is this week!

Information for Potential Performers.

Whether you've been performing for ages, or for the first time, if you're keen to participate, it's a 6:45pm sign up (first come, first dibs of set position) - max of 12 performers so get in quick! Set lengths are 5 minutes.

You will get a light at 4 mins from our host to let you know you should be wrapping up shortly. Come along and watch one and meet the team if you're nervous. We'll help you to get up on stage and have a great time doing so!
