Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland.

This course runs over 16 weeks with 8 weeks per school term.

Popular songs from the 60s to now. This 40-minute classes for those who have completed the beginner's course, or have taken lessons elsewhere. The tutor will charge you directly for music copies.

Own instrument required. This course is designed for adult learners. Please visit our website for details of other guitar courses (popular style beginners, blues style beginners) on offer.

About the tutor: Darmatin Harmadi graduated in 1984 with the Yamaha Certificate of Advancement for Classic Guitar Performance Grade 9 and 10. He won 2nd prize in a guitar classical competition in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia in 1989. He attended Masterclass guitar courses led by Prof Leo Witozynskyj (Sweden) for 2 months in 1992.

He taught as a guitar teacher in Sonare Music School in Singapore August 1999 until July 2000. Since moving to New Zealand, Darmatin has been teaching guitar as itinerant teacher in Auckland. His task is consistently motivating, inspiring, teaching classical (plucking) and popular (strumming) guitar styles, and developing students' interest in music.
