NZ Chinese Voices.

An Oral History Exhibition by Sue Gee.

"My mother and father were born in Opunake and Manaia, in Taranaki. As young people, they left Aoteroa NZ to spend several years in their respective Cantonese villages, learning to speak Chinese and learning something of our Chinese customs.

I never asked them questions about their time in Guangdong and after they died, I deeply regretted it. I decided, by asking others about their lives, I could learn more of my own ancestral heritage - hence the project From Guangdong to Aotearoa."
