Presentation: School of Music Festival.

The School of Music’s Fermata lecture series was founded by Associate Professor Allan Badley and Senior Lecturer Davinia Caddy with an eye to expressing and explaining distinctive specialisms and issues pertaining to the study and history of music.

In this session, two of the School’s doctoral candidates, Michael Weiss and Sam Girling, present their current research in an enlightening joint Fermata presentation.

Michael Weiss: Representing music through music: galant schemata as musical stereotypes in the nineteenth century.

Sam Girling: From the drawing room to the ballroom: the tambourine's contribution to music and dance in English country houses during the early 19th-century

N.B. Free admission. Online registrations will close 3 hours prior to each event start time. Registrations are recommended, however, not compulsory.

This event is part of the School of Music Festival - a fourteen-day celebration of music at the University of Auckland. The Festival will showcase the School's diverse musical life and give an insight into the day-to-day life of students and staff.
