Australia - Cabaret.

She may have been born in the gutter, but Edith Piaf rose to great heights.

The life story of France’s “Little Sparrow” has been turned into an acclaimed cabaret show, written and performed and performed by singer Michaela Burger and guitarist Greg Wain.

The winner of Best Cabaret for the 2016 Adelaide Fringe Festival, this breath-taking show features classics such La Vie en Rose, Padam, padam and Non, Je ne regrette rien.

All have been uniquely reworked using the acoustic guitar to create an exquisite mix of authentic, vintage French pop and contemporary sounds.

The songs are punctuated with a collection of extraordinary stories of Piaf’s life. During this witty narrative, Michaela embodies a multitude of the key characters, including, of course, Edith Piaf.

Michaela sings many of the songs in French and, being only 2cm taller than Edith Piaf and dressed in her trademark black, bears an uncanny resemblance to the legendary French star.

“Michaela Burger is a blazing life force in her evocation of Edith Piaf…” Sydney Morning Herald
