Empower: Inspiring locals share stories from their lives

Six Whangarei creatives and young business people will share stories from their lives and careers.
Empower is an intimate glimpse into the minds of inspirational people living locally.
This event is raising funds for the Us Project, a nationwide initiative to open dialogue around sexual assault through storytelling and art.

The Panel Includes:

Megan Bowers-Vette:
Megan is a local photographer who will be sharing her experiences working on the Us project, and some of the things she has learnt
from interviewing 50 people from around NZ.

Laurel Devenie:
Local theatre legend Laurel is currently gracing our screens as Kate Nathan on well-loved drama Shortland Street and is part of the creative force behind Company of Giants, and the artsy hub of Whangarei, One One Six.

Vincent Nathan:
Vincent describes himself as a streetwise tattooed Maori unicorn rider of drag queen descent living in a world of entertainment and poetry, cast down to earth to challenge mindsets and arouse hearts using nothing but love.

Philippa Mannagh:
Social media expert and coach Philippa is the editor of local mag Savvy, and runs the hugely popular mums in biz networking group. Philippa writes about being a mother in business in a very real and relatable way on her coaching business Liked Media’s blog.

Jasmine Fuller:
Jasmine is the vibrant vegan florist behind Whangarei’s coolest little flower shop, Mint Floral.
She will be sharing her journey with Mint, and the steps she took to becoming a successful young business owner in Northland.

Jessica White:
Everyone's favourite dreadlocked bar owner discusses the trials and tribulations of growing the Butter Factory into Whangarei’s most welcoming meeting place and live music venue.

Strictly limited tickets are $22 on eventfinda and include nibbles and wine on arrival.

All proceeds go to helping the Us project give voice to the survivors of sexual assault.
