The Buddha’s dying words, so relevant in these troubled times, point to the illuminating and enlightening power of our mindful awareness.

This awareness, which can lovingly penetrate even the darkest corners of our inner and outer lives, is not conceptual, nor is it located only in the head or in some transcendent beyond. It exists in the direct experience of our very bodies - in our tissues, bones, organs, our energetic systems and in our visceral connection with all that is.

It can shine light on our dysfunctional and destructive patterns and also illuminate our radiant loving essence, our natural wisdom and the farthest reaches of our potential.

Most of us experience our body only vaguely and regard it as an unreliable appendage of our mind. This course will introduce somatic meditation practices which will help us to reconnect with and begin to trust the natural, wakeful, luminous presence in our body. We will explore some of the territory of embodied awareness and look into ways we resist, reject and manipulate our direct experience.

There will be gentle chi gong practices to help relax and ground us, guided lying down somatic meditations and sitting meditation, along with talks and opportunities for sharing.
