This course will cover a variety of poi techniques over 8 weeks; x/y/z planes, same/split time, same/opposite direction, extensions, weaves, wraps, butterflies, throws, and orbitals.

There will be a take-home resource and practice poi, which participants will get to keep as their own after the course.

At the end of the course, participants will have the opportunity to spin a pair of fire poi for the first time in guided and safe experience.

About the instructor:
Josh Smith:
Josh has been teaching and sharing the Flow Arts for over 6 years now. He is a key member of the Circulation festival and community, the president of the OUSA Dunedin Fire and Circus Club, and is currently teaching through Carisbrook School with the support of from the Ministry of Social Development.

He started spinning one day, by picking up a staff and hasn't looked back since. Since this, Josh has rapidly branched out into many of the other flow arts, including developing a great love for poi. His path has led him to encounter prominent members of the Flow Arts global community and being gifted with opportunities to learn from and share with so many talented humans.

This an 8-week course on 7 Saturdays' and one Sunday (4 June 2017).
Studio Tula is located next to Nectar Cafe, opposite the former Chief Post Office.
