Come to the Maritime Museum and take part in art workshops for adults facilitated by Connect the Dots - the Auckland-based charitable trust - on July 30.

This fun and participatory workshop will explore the ideas and materials in the works of social practice artist Tiffany Singh.

The workshop will begin with a discussion to draw out ideas in Singh's work, followed by art making to explore our personal responses using textile arts. We will be working alongside both Tivaevae and new migrant embroidery artists.

Participants will create an individual fabric motif to add to a larger collaborative textile work, which will be gifted to a local organisation working with new migrants.

The workshop will be held in the Edmiston Gallery in the Journey of a Million Miles - Following Steps exhibition by Singh.

Participants will be shown everything they need to know on the day. Light refreshments and all materials will be provided and no experience is required.

The workshop is free, but registrations are requested as the first two workshops filled up quickly. Please email - bookings@maritimemuseum.co.nz or call 09 373 0807 to reserve your spot. Walk-ins welcome on the day if there are spaces left. Please check before you arrive.

Connect the Dots Charitable Trust’s mission is to connect people and strengthen neighbourhoods through the creative arts. As well as facilitating two workshops for the public, Connect the Dots will also host two of their own groups on different dates.

Make Moments – facilitated art tours for people living with dementia, and Make Do - applied arts project that aims to create a space for cultural exchange and connections, with women from migrant and refugee backgrounds.
