The digital age has given us more ways to connect but can leave us feeling isolated. Social media is a platform for communication but can devolve into a digital shooting.

Compassion isn’t the first word which comes to mind when we talk about the digital age, but it is as crucial as it has ever been. Compassion is the difference between cyberbullying and social support. It is the inspiration for new technologies which help the world where help is needed most, beyond simple entertainment.

Compassion has been the difference between sending rockets to the moon or shooting rockets at each other. In a time where our connection with the joys and sorrows of the world is highlighted no matter where we are, compassion is essential to guide the digital age towards a positive future.

About Dungse-la:
Dungse Jampal Norbu was born in 1988 to Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, a Tibetan Buddhist meditation master, and his wife, Elizabeth Mattis- Namgyel. Dungse-la trained from a young age under his father’s tutelage, recently completing a five-year course in Tibetan philosophy.

Dungse-la sees Buddhism as a practical set of skills that enhance our ability to live in a full and compassionate way. His humour, insight, and familiarity with the Western world allow him to pinpoint the relevance of the Buddhist teachings to the range of modern life’s concerns.
