We've all felt the impact of cancer in some way or another.

Whether it was a personal experience, or a loved-one, the devastating news leaves us wishing for a cure. Dr. Swee Tan, award winning plastic surgeon, scientist and Wellingtonian of the Year 2014, has made it his life's ambition to fulfil this wish. He and his team are working towards revolutionising the way cancer is treated and developing treatments that leave survivors with a higher quality of life after remission.

In conjunction with our partner, MinterEllisonRuddWatts, we invite you to enjoy breakfast and hear of Dr. Tan's quest at our November Capital Series.

With over 32 years of medical experience, Dr. Tan is recognised internationally for his ground-breaking work, including great strides in non-invasive treatment of strawberry birthmarks. As founder of the Wellington-based Gillies McIndoe Research Institute, Dr. Tan leads a world-class research team, whose work has inspired a paradigm shift in the way numerous diseases are researched globally. Hear from the man who has created and fostered a local organisation into an institution recognised and respected in countless countries around the world.

Outside his impressive research and indisputable contribution to science, Dr. Tan aims to be more than a surgeon and a scientist, he aims to be a catalyst for the achievement of others. During his talk, he will take you through his journey from a small village in southern Malaysia to how he got involved in cancer research - including the obstacles, the hopes and the joys of the speculation entailed.

His field may be medicine and scientific research but his story and cause is one with which we can all connect. Register now.
