Cambridge is twinned with the small northern French town of Le Quesnoy, a town with a special relationship to New Zealand having been liberated by New Zealand troops from German occupation one week before the end of the First World War.

In recognition of Cambridge's sister city link with Le Quesnoy, Cambridge is going “French for a Day” on Bastille Day, Friday 14 July.

Shops, cafes and restaurants will have a French-themed day, and there will be activities, music and competitions for the kids (it's school holidays) taking place at the 'Bonjour Couch', located outside the Cambridge BNZ, 51 Victoria Street, from 11am to 2:30pm.

Many of Cambridge's well-known personalities are part of a special 'Can you say Le Quesnoy?' video and the whole town is invited to come along on the day, try out their best French and be part of the final video being filmed on the day!
