Start your International qualification in English teaching at NZLC.

CELTA is an internationally recognised teaching qualification, accepted by organisations which employ English language teachers. It is highly regarded and gives trainees the skills required for English teaching positions throughout the world.
The course is suitable for people who want to start a career in English language teaching or who are already teaching English with no formal qualification.

NZLC runs unique 5-week full-time courses (4 Sep - 5 Oct 2017) instead of the traditional 4-week courses, to allow more time for lesson preparation and assignments as well as reducing the stress and pressure put on trainees, therefore, resulting in a more enjoyable experience.
- Taught by highly experienced and qualified teacher trainers.
- Cambridge Approved CELTA training centre.
- Well-resourced, dedicated Teacher Training Department.
- Experience teaching in an award winning English school.
- Free Fridays to allow extra time for lesson planning and writing assignments.
- Assistance in finding a job.
- $100 discount for early birds (see details below).

The courses run full-time for 5 weeks.
Monday to Thursday (or Tuesday to Friday if Monday is a public holiday).
As the course is very intensive, you will also need to allow time in the evenings, on Fridays and weekends for planning lessons and writing assignments.
This approach offers clear advantages over the more traditional 4-week course:
- One integrated study day per week allowing more time to research written assignments and plan lessons.
- Less pressure/reduced stress.
- Greater enjoyment of the whole experience.

Course content:
At the heart of the course is six hours of teaching practice. Input sessions on language awareness and methodology relate directly to this, as do the classroom observations and written assignments.
Language awareness - grammar, vocabulary, phonology and how language is used to express different meanings.
- Methodology - procedures and techniques for language teaching.
Teaching practice - six hours of supervised teaching at two different levels, supported with guided lesson planning and personalised feedback on lessons.
- Classroom observations - six hours of experienced teachers in action.
- Written assignments - four assignments (750 -1000 words each) on language teaching and learning.

Course Assessment:
The course assessment is continuous and transparent (there is no final exam). Each lesson you teach is evaluated and graded by your trainer. During the course, you will have individual tutorials, where your trainer will help you to identify your strengths and areas for development. The final assessment is based on Teaching Practice, Professional Development and Written Assignments. There are three pass grades: Pass, Pass "B" and Pass "A", which are discussed with an external Cambridge assessor.

Course Fees:
Early bird special: $100 discount for applicants who book and pay the $500 deposit 7 weeks prior to the course start date.
