Weta Workshop

To celebrate the Kickstarter launch of her new book, Weta Workshop artist Sofia Bue will be doing a live body art demonstration in the Weta Cave.

This is a free event and your chance to see a world body painting champion in action!

Her model will be Royd Tolkien, who is in New Zealand filming a documentary to raise awareness for Motor-Neuron disease (MND).

Sofia has worked for Weta Workshop the past 5 years and has contributed her talents to films such as The Hobbit, Chappie, Thunderbirds Are Go and most recently Ghost in the Shell.

When she’s not working on film and TV projects at Weta Workshop, Sofia competes and teaches at international body art events around the world. She is the 2013 and 2015 World Champion in Special Effects Makeup and Bodyart.

The demonstration takes place this Sunday at the Weta Cave, Weta Workshop’s retail store in Miramar, Wellington. Come along to learn more about this unique artform and meet Sofia and Royd! See you there.
