Bic Runga

Bic Runga’s captivating voice and songs have become part of the musical fabric of New Zealand. She is a New Zealand icon, and this concert celebrates her music and her contribution to New Zealand music.

Joining Bic onstage for a duet in Wellington is the awesome Estere, Empress of Electric Blue Witch-Hop. Estere's new album, 'My Design' (Part 1), will be released on Friday, 13 October.

Bic’s first album, Drive, was a 7x Platinum seller, followed by four more studio albums: Beautiful Collision (10x Platinum), Birds (3x Platinum), Belle and Close Your Eyes.

These albums have won Bic the highest of accolades: She has received almost every musical honour in New Zealand, including 20 Tui Awards for best songwriter, best singer and best producer; and the prestigious APRA Silver Scroll songwriting award. She was recently nominated for another Silver Scroll award, one of five female nominees.

Defying genre, Bic has made the foray into electronic music, covers, and opera. Always stylish, Bic is the queen of cool, her fans transcending generations, admired by those who have watched her grow up as well as those who have grown up watching her. Bic has inadvertently paved the way for Kiwi female musicians who have since found success. Nadia Reid has described Bic’s voice as “pure, clear, wise, and melancholic.”

This series of concerts will enchant Bic’s fans with a special performance of the entire Drive album, her first multiplatinum release. Through her second set, Bic will continue to fill the venue with hits from her many other releases, with accompaniment from special guests. The venues will suit the music, and vice versa – an icon to be cherished, music to be celebrated, an evening to be remembered.
