Auckland Wind Orchestra is proud to present "Around the World in 80 Minutes" featuring music by composers from all over the globe.

Come with us as we wend our way around our planet listening to music from places many of us have never seen.

We will visit:
New Zealand
Invercargill March - by Alex Lithgow, based on his hometown of Invercargill in the South Island. It is especially popular in the United States, being a top favourite of the US Marines. It was the Regimental March of the 56th Infantry Regiment of the New York Guard during World War II.

United States
Rampage - by Todd Stalter the Director of Bands at Eureka High School in Eureka, IL and serves as Chair of the Department of Fine Arts for CUSD no. 140.

Gaelforce - by Peter Graham who is one of the leading composers for brass band. He was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland and studied at the University of Edinburgh and then undertook postgraduate studies with Edward Gregson at Goldsmiths College, University of London. He holds a PhD in composition.

La Tregenda - by Giocomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini (wow, that's a long name!) was an Italian opera composer who has been called "the greatest composer of Italian opera after Verdi". Puccini's early work was rooted in traditional late-19th-century romantic Italian opera.

The Planets - 1. Mars, the Bringer of War by Gustav Holst. The Planets, Op. 32, is a seven-movement orchestral suite by the English composer Gustav Holst, written between 1914 and 1916. Each movement of the suite is named after a planet of the Solar System and its corresponding astrological character as defined by Holst.

And more!

You'll love this concert and come away with a little taste of a lot of places. You can get your ticket at the door on the day - $15 for a trip around the world is hard to beat!
