Ticket Information:

  • Anne Salmond: In Cook's Wake - a cruise with lunch: $125.00

A Marlborough Book Festival session - Cruise aboard Marlborough Tour Company's MV Odyssea into Queen Charlotte Sound to hear Dame Anne Salmond speak about Captain Cook and his contemporaries. You'll also be treated to a delicious morning tea and lunch.

The first significant long-term contacts between Maori and Pakeha took place in Totaranui/Queen Charlotte Sound in the 1770s and have shaped the country. Dame Anne was one of the first to tell that history from two perspectives, continuing her contribution to bridging the cultural divide between Maori and Pakeha.

As Marlborough looks to mark 250 years since Cook first visited Queen Charlotte Sound, Marlborough author Peter Jerram, a long-time Cook enthusiast, will talk with Dame Anne about her books, Two Worlds, Between Two Worlds, and The Trial of the Cannibal Dog, Captain Cook in the South Seas.
