Andrew White is a troubadour. He is one of those rare artists who can skilfully combine brilliant finger-style guitar work with a compelling story in lyric and deliver them both in an engaging live performance.

Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Andrew's interest in guitar and songwriting developed after hearing folk artists such as Ralph McTell, Paul Simon, Donovan, Bert Janch, Pentangle and others when he was 12. His family immigrated to New Zealand when he was 16, and he started his career busking on the streets of Auckland.

In 1984 he released his first self-produced album, Conversations, and was immediately signed by the U.S. label Narada Records. Narada then released Islands, an instrumental collaboration with Grammy-nominated artist David Arkenstone, which reached the top 10 on the US Billboard Charts Instrumental category in 1990.

Andrew has recorded fourteen albums, the latest of which, ‘Beautiful Trouble’ is due for release early August 2017.

Some past notable performances include international tours and collaborations with artists such as:
The Corrs - Michelle Shocked - Clannad - John Martyn - Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads) - Janis Ian - Mary Black - Capercaillie - Eddie Reader - The Indigo Girls - Taj Mahal - The Strawbs - Mick Avory (The Kinks) - Dave Clarke - Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix Experience) - Dave Rowberry (The Animals) - Brendan Power (Sting, Van Morrison) - Seals and Crofts – Guitarists - Tommy Emmanuel - Juan Martin - Ottmar Liebert - Antoine Dufour - Andy Mckee - Don Ross - Brian Gore - Peppino D'Agostino, John Renbourne and many others.

Andrew's music has been described as a road map of the experiences of a musical life coupled with guitar technique that has left thousands of people breathless.

While technically brilliant, his guitar work is not just out to impress - it has a pleasing, highly melodic structure. Andrew White is one of the few who combines international class guitar playing with skilfully crafted and beautiful songs. A humble and gifted musician, Andrew’s music will take you on a spiritual journey over the mountains and rivers of his soul.

"White's style is a unique, soulful mix, and his guitar playing is extraordinary." - Rambles Art Magazine, U.K.

“White is one of those few blessed individuals who combines international-class finger-style guitar playing with great vocals and superb –song- writing.” - Ian Melrose (Clannad)

"Andrew is a magical writer, listen to him with your heart.” - Tommy Emmanuel

“It is no stretch at all to describe Andrew White as the Art Tatum of the guitar.” – Stephen Pederson, Chronicle Herald, Canada

“Andrew’s album Walk in Light is a heartfelt and inspirational journey of life and love. Andrew is a truly talented individual. His unique guitar style is a treat to the ears and his melodies and lyrics are infectious.” - Pam Sheyne (Songwriter “Genie in a Bottle” - Christina Aguilera)

"Beautifully constructed guitar compositions that will not only inspire other musicians but also embrace the general listener in a warm glow…an aural palate you would associate with a Van Gogh." - Fyfe on Folk, UK

"Whether picking out a dainty traditional melody, tearing into a dirty blues workout, or artfully backing his tautly worded songs, his playing is continually embellished with layers of complementing nuance, both harmonic and textural, his singing is reminiscent of Sting at his darkly evocative best, only with a slightly hoarser, dustier edge." - The Scotsman UK
