Creating a plant collages and building paper pots to proper gate your own native plant are two activities for the next Kids Greening Taupō conservation events.

Fun easy activities teaching children about conservation is the aim of the Kids Greening Taupō Conservation Event Series for young families.

The easy activities - which can also be done at home - will include exploring New Zealand’s plants, how to removal invasive species to plant natives and arts and crafts including making bark rubbings and having a go at making a biodegradable paper pot.

Kids Greening Taupō, the school based programme with five local education centres is responding to community requests from others eager to get involved.

“We have now had three great events for young families. Our aim is to make it easy for families and kids to get outdoors and have fun and these events help us do that” - Thea de Petris, Kids Greening Taupō co-ordinator.
