There will be a screening of the documentary ‘The Most Excellent Dying of Theodore Jack Heckelman’.

The documentary was made by his sister Nancy Jewel Poer, the pioneer of home deaths and after death care in America, to empower families to care for their loved one at home, both before and after death and to normalise death as part of life.

On Saturday 5th August from 2-4pm there will be an introductory talk and a demonstration of after death care using well-developed practices established by carers and nurses over many years of practice and also working with undertakers in America.

These 2 events are presented by a group from the Christian Community Church, Onehunga who have worked on the theme for some time.
