An extravaganza of Singing, Dancing & Melodrama in the style of the Old Time Music Hall.

Directed by: Donna Buchanan, Steve Millar & Karyn Gibson - Performance dates: 7th – 17th June 2017

Now into its 22nd year, Riccarton Players annual showing of It's “A Riccartonian Palace of Varieties” once again promises to deliver an exciting array of music, sketches, fun, frolics and mayhem of bygone eras.

Taking its roots from the early 1900’s, this production reinforces the style of “Old Time Music Hall” and is eagerly anticipated, to see what twist we have given the show for this year's showing. Riccarton Players prides itself that no two “ARPOV’s” are ever the same, because of the mix and available songs of the period.

You’ll be taken on a two-hour journey that will have you ‘Walking in the Rain’, ‘Going from Rags to Riches’, ‘Hear the Ticking of Time’, ‘Angels Sing’ and a song-filled journey across the US of A - as each bracket suggests, songs from those various categories prevail.

All of this is combined with the obligatory sketches and other variety items selected to bring humour from the past, in your seat in the auditorium at Christchurch South Intermediate - Active audience participation is encouraged!

Chairman Steve Millar, pianist Penny Wilson, and the cast of 20 will soon have you singing along to songs you’ll both know and love, tapping your feet to the dancing, and laughing along with the sketches and jokes.
