A remarkable story. Live music. All welcome.

In partnership with Henderson Baptist Church, we’re so excited to invite you to the 2017 Night of Hope Series.

This is a special and unique opportunity to come along and meet Charles Kabena, a former World Vision sponsored child from Malawi. Charles will be recounting his remarkable story of hardship, courage and transformation, alongside live music by award-winning artist Nathan King.

This is a free community event. Bring your family and friends and celebrate Charles’ story of resilience and hope!

About Charles: Charles was born into extreme poverty, and like most poor children in Malawi, his family could not afford to send him to secondary school. But thanks to Child Sponsorship, World Vision was working with his community. He received a pair of school shoes, a school uniform, and a full scholarship to pay his school fees.

He attended university and now, he works as a Communications Officer at World Vision Malawi. His passion is to encourage young people to stay in school so they can become professionals like him.

About Nathan: Nathan King, a gifted and passionate Kiwi singer-songwriter began his musical career with his band Zed. The band released two multi-platinum albums, with their debut album shooting to number one. Nathan found himself honing his craft in front of thousands of fans in Australasia touring with Robbie Williams and Coldplay and in the US and Europe with The Calling, Ash and Seal.

In 2001, he was nominated as Best Songwriter and won the Best Male Vocalist award at the New Zealand Music Awards. In 2008, Nathan released his first solo album and has most recently been working with his new band, Twin Cities. Nathan is also a great friend of World Vision and has travelled with us to India, Tanzania and Rwanda.
