This is the 4th annual Childhood Studies Colloquium. The aim of the Childhood Studies Colloquium is to bring together people interested in children and young people and their wellbeing to share ideas, research and generate inspiration together.

This year, the 2017 Colloquium is being hosted by the Institute for Early Childhood Studies at Victoria University of Wellington, with support from the Board of the Childhood Studies Colloquium in Aotearoa New Zealand.

- Keynote: Golriz, Ghahraman, New Zealand's first elected refugee to Parliament
- Brilliant Bursts by experts on: child poverty, adolescent suicide, bullying prevention, philosophy for children, consulting youth and children and much more.
- The Launch of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child Monitoring Group's first public Report by The Children's Commissioner, Judge Andrew Becroft
- Presentations from the latest research and insights from work with children and young people
