What do apples, kiwis, and 3D-Printers have in common?

They are the inspiration for this year’s 2016 YIA Innovation Forum hosted by Priority One on Thursday 11th August at Classic Flyers, Tauranga. Join us for a morning breakfast and a one-off chance to hear the inspiring, unique and untold stories from four of New Zealand’s innovation superstars.

This year’s theme is ‘Creating Tomorrow’s Innovators’, and over the course of a morning, our curated selection of speakers will tell their unique innovation story.

Apple Creative Director - Andrew Mckechnie

From New Zealand to New York to being head-hunted by Apple, Andrew will explain his innovation journey and what’s involved leading a 60-strong team of creatives at Apple made up of the some of the greatest film, interactive, advertising, design, and fashion thought-leaders in the world.

Victoria University Design Futurist - Ross Stevens

Ross Stevens is an industrial designer, academic, and design futurist and has worked with many of the world’s leading designers, from Philippe Starck to high end audio brands. Ross will explain how a lifetime’s work has lead him to become an expert in the emerging and future applications for 3D printing.

Zespri Innovation Manager - Carol Ward

A rare chance to hear from local legend Carol Ward, in charge of Zespri’s $35 million innovation science budget and tasked with achieving $2 billion worth of exports by 2020. From research to robots, green to gold, Carol will share how her experiences both at home and abroad have armed her with the skills she needs to keep innovating.

Handstands Creator - Hannah Payne

Hannah is last year’s Young Innovator Awards Senior Category winner with the project Handstands. Hannah has since gone on to studying product design at Massey University. She is bright, passionate and a ‘poster girl’ for our next generation of innovators. Hannah will be explaining her YIA project and how she is set for global domination.
