Every image you see tells a story. If the storyteller is good at what they do, then it’s a story that creates emotion. If not, then the story is no longer about emotion, but about everything the storyteller doesn’t know. To communicate a vision to an audience is the goal. To choose what you want them to feel, you must decide what you want them to see.

If you wish to earn a living as a creative professional, you must create emotion. To do so you must learn the tools of a storyteller. Christian Gossett’s Visual Storytelling techniques will show you how to take those fragments of brilliance in your mind (or anyone’s mind) and express them in the medium of your choosing.

Even if you can’t draw, you will, from this talk forward, know exactly how you should begin the work of making a story. You will learn how to translate any story from words (or even music) to images. These techniques are applicable not only to authors, comic book artists, directors, DOP’s, storyboard artists, 3D modelers/animators, digital painters and poets, but to producers and financiers as well.

This masterclass is tutored by Christian Gossett. Christian was Internationally published as an artist and writer at the age of nineteen, his ongoing project, The Red Star, has sold over a million units worldwide, was voted among the “Top 100 graphic novels of all time” by Wizard magazine, and is one of the most critically acclaimed independent comics’ series of the decade. His videogame career began at Activision on the PSX. Since then, he has designed for Sega, Namco, Microsoft and others. His most recent game work was on Activision’s flagship franchise, Call of Duty. Christian’s designs can be seen in George Lucas’ Phantom Menace, Sir Peter Jackson’s King Kong and Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

This masterclass is part of 'The Art and Industry of Imagination' event.
