Victory Medal, a commemorative sculpture by artist Helen Pollock, has been touring New Zealand for the past two years. The Wellington Botanic Garden will host the final installation of the artwork from 9 September - 13 November 2016, before it travels to be exhibited in France and Belgium.

The Wellington installation is timed to span the centenary of New Zealand’s involvement in the Battle of the Somme as the installation acknowledges our heroes. Thirty-six pairs of clay and bronze feet – the number in a small platoon, ‘stand to’ in a cross formation, in recognition of the men, women, and children who were, and are, caught up in conflict and wars on our behalf.

The sculpture will be placed at Remembrance Ridge in the Wellington Botanic Garden.

NB: There is no vehicle access to the site.
