Hera Hjartardóttir is an Icelandic born singer-songwriter who is now based in New Zealand. She has a gold record in Iceland, and in 2003, she was named Best Female Singer at the Icelandic Music Awards leading to an intensive international touring schedule including Italy, Holland, Greenland, England, Scotland, Wales and Denmark, the SXSW music festival in the USA and Glastonbury Festival in the UK.

Hera’s music is noticeably unique and has been influenced strongly by dual emotional investment in both of her cultures. Blending foreign sounds and language with folk and acoustic pop, in 2002 her song ‘Itchy Palms’ was chosen as the title track for the award-winning Icelandic film ‘Hafið’ (The Sea) and her song ‘Makebelieve’ was a finalist in the USA Songwriting Competition.
