Meet the talent behind Wellington Museum’s newest exhibition, The Attic.

The Attic is the Museum’s new permanent exhibition space that honours the Wellington region, revealing more of its quirky stories. It aims to create enchanting experiences that captivates the imagination, stimulates curiosity and capture the essence of our city.

The new exhibition space has been curated to showcase the unusual and fascinating items in the museum’s collection.

From architects to curators, project managers to cinematographers; each of our speakers have combined their expertise to bring you the latest exhibition celebrating Wellington city and the region.

Meet Museums Wellington Director Brett Mason, Head of Learning and Content Paul Thompson and Project Manager Tamsin Cooper, as they talk about their vision for the exhibition and the process to bring it to life.

Staff from Athfield Architecture will speak about the architectural challenge of designing a beautiful new exhibition space in a heritage building.

Jon Baxter from Perceptual Engineering is the mastermind behind The Attic’s time machine Ngā Hau and will talk about the process of creating a cinematic time machine.

Conal McCarthy from the School of Museum & Heritage studies at Victoria University gives an insight into the purpose of the modern museum.

After the talk the museum will be open late (until 8pm) for you to explore The Attic.
