Travel with Steam Incorporated on this rail adventure to the Wairarapa & Tararua district.

The train will run from Wellington via the Hutt Valley & Rimutaka Tunnel to the Wairarapa and on up to Woodville. Returns the same way. No regular trains operate on the section of track between Masterton & Pahiatua. We are now the most frequent operator on this section.

You can select from one of three destinations. Alight at Pahiatua to visit the Pahiatua Railcar Society, Mangatainoka for the Tui Brewery & Tui HQ, or travel all the way to Woodville where the train will be turned for the return journey.

Hauled by an immaculately restored diesel locomotive the train will comprise our fleet of classic red “steel” cars. There will also be an open air viewing platform on the train. The train will include a buffet counter selling sandwiches, drinks and snacks, and a souvenir counter for all sorts of railway and steam memorabilia. You are welcome to bring your own food on the train.

We will make several other stops during the day for photo opportunities and a leg stretch.

You can board the train at Paekakariki, Mana, Porirua, Tawa, Wellington, Petone, Waterloo and Upper Hutt, Featherston, Carterton or Masterton. Departs Waterloo 9am.

Pahiatua Railcar Society Visit (Adult $10, Child free)
Includes a tour around the Pahiatua Railcar Society Depot and workshop. Highlight will be the newly restored “tin hare” railcar RM5. Plus a short ride in the yard on RM31 “Tokomaru”.

Tui Brewery Lunch
Alight at Mangatainoka for a visit to the nearby Tui HQ & Brewery. At the “HQ” is a shop, museum and café. Unfortunately brewery tours will not be available due to some redevelopments. Kiwiana BBQ lunch included at the brewery. Bus transfers provided for the short 1.5km trip to the brewery. Cost $30.

We have a one hour stopover at Woodville. It is a 15 minute walk to the town centre.

Prior booking essential. All seating is pre-allocated. Book online or phone 0800 783 264.
Tickets, confirmed timetable, and final information will be mailed out to you two weeks prior to the excursion.
