A showcase of talent from the University of Auckland's School of Music

Orleans lives by three things: music, liquor, kitchen. With the help of the Jazz department at the University of Auckland's School of Music we're taking you straight to New Orleans with talented acts playing a range of sounds from Jazz to funk, soul and rhythm and blues with liquor and kitchen specials all night.

More about the Jazz department at the Auckland University School of Music:

The Jazz department at the School of Music is part of the University of Auckland’s creative faculty, the National Institute of Creative Arts and Industries (NICAI). The School offers three performance majors, classical, jazz, and popular music, as well as musicology and composition. Under the guidance of some of the finest instrument teachers in the country, as well as a team of composers and musicologists of international distinction, students have the opportunity to hone their skills and deepen their understanding of music of all kinds.

The School is recognised for its particular strength in jazz performance, as well as early music, piano, and voice, and its thriving performance culture also includes chamber music, orchestra, and choir. Regular concerts showcase student talent to the public, including the high-profile Graduation Gala, and the brand new Jazz Sessions - hosted by Orleans at Britomart in association with the School of Music Students' Association (SOMSA).

If you're at The School of Music and are interested in performing at next month's Jazz Sessions, get in touch with our curator Denholm. Any general enquiries can be directed to event co-ordinator Ivan.
