Dunedin’s very own Midwinter Swing Festival will warm your cockles in the coldest of months.

This year, Dunedin will host the South Island Swing Dance Competitions. Join us for an amazing evening of the best dancers from around New Zealand. Plenty of opportunities to dance for both spectators and competitors, games, spot prizes, free food, drink and more!

Join us for the afterparty at Pequeno for our Antarctic Blues late night dance until the small hours - only $10 for the best atmosphere.

3 days of dance events, phenomenal teachers and workshops, the South Island swing competitions and a celebration of the longest night of the year (Winter Solstice!) Dunedin’s Midwinter Swing Festival follows on from last year’s hugely successful Vintage Street Swing Festival.

Check out video from last year's ball here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iE1LrOiciqY

Programme:
- Friday 17 June – evening: opening dance with live music at the Savoy – one of the most beautiful original ballrooms in NZ
- Saturday 18 June – workshops: Balboa, Blues, Charleston and Lindy – get to know the amazing teachers.
- Saturday 18 June – evening: celebrate the winter solstice by dancing in Dunedin’s own winter carnival, followed by the South Island Swing Comps at Dunedin’s incredible Toitu/Otago Early Settlers Museum! Top prizes up for grabs and a perfect opportunity to test your dance skills!
- Sunday 19 June – more workshops and a closing dinner and dance with live Music from Devilish Mary & the Holy Rollers at Etrusco; one of Dunedin’s premier Italian restaurants!
- Monday 20 June - Farewell Brunch at the Dog With Two Tails Cafe.

And hey! if you’re not satisfied with all that there are many more fun activities to keep your bellies warm such as hot swinging jazz music to warm the cool nights away, sumo-suit swing dancing (yes you read that correctly), viewing the night sky (maybe the Aurora Australis), checking out the only Castle in NZ, glow worms, mulled wine, and hot hearty food!

Tickets are very affordable with hosting accommodation in Dunedin available too so stick it in the calendar now, book your flights, and you’ll have something delightful to look forward to when winter arrives!
