School holiday craft activity: Try your hand at Victorian era augmented reality by making an optical illusion to take home.

What is a thaumatrope you may wonder? It is a "magic spinner" - an optical toy popular in the 19th century made of a disc with a picture on each side. When turned, the two pictures appear to blend into one.

All materials supplied. No bookings necessary. Caregiver required.

For extra fun: Come to our Grandparents themed Storytimes at 10:30 just before the craft activity Tuesday 27th September.

Step Back in Time: Check out all our other school holiday activities during September and October based around a heritage theme at Christchurch City Libraries.
