TV Disko hosts another eclectic evening soft selling synth pop and minimal wave gleefully gleaned from around the globe, flitting fittingly between recognisable and recondite vintage vinyl vis-à-vis Finland, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Canada, Italy, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Belgium, Sweden, Spain, and random record shops between.

Bookended by those febrile and fecund years 1977 and 1987, you’ll sample a synthetic soirée of cool, crisp and crackly cuts, all artifice and angles, with barely a guitar in sight. In lieu, you get Junos, Arps, Korgs, Yamahas, Fairlights, Oberheims, Prophet-5s, Mini Moogs, Emulators, Roland drum machines, home-made oscillators, bespoke tone-generators, mountains of modules, loopy tape reels, punchy patches, as well as promiscuously punk-like, pro-pop, proto-digital DIY sensibilities creating confections caught-up in the callous yet coldly comforting cybernetically kinetic kaleidoscopic kink of computer love.

Assiduously assembled through countless keyboards, nubs of knobs, a colourfully connected conglomeration of cables, and an appropriate amount of amorously analog attitude, we’re left with supercilious, silly and serious songs about cold wars, nuclear wars, office drudgery, domestic drudgery, television and telematics, informatics and intimacies, aliens and alienation, robots and robot love, computational orchestrations darkly maneuvered by the mechanical musings of melancholic and mirthful machines archly appended and uproariously upended with frigidly, frenetically forlorn and more than a few funky feeling fascination fun songs about lost love, lust and love, lust for love, love, love, and the love of which you just can’t enough.

This all courtesy sonorously seductive circuity pulsing to pre-programmed beats to which you can either dutifully disco on the dance floor or strike a decorously dispassionate pose all subtly studied and artfully aloof. Stance or dance, diffidence or delirium, the choice is yours. The night, however, is ours.
