'Events surrounding the Ironside Mission in Port Underwood 1840-43'

This will be presented by well-known Marlborough historian Barry Holdaway who has a particular interest in Port Underwood during the mid-19th Century, especially the events which led to the failure of the Mission.

Barry has served on the Archives Council of N.Z. and is an enthusiastic researcher of new material relating to Waiaru and Marlborough history.

The attached picture relates to a group of Marlborough historians visiting Ngakuta Bay, Port Underwood in 1955. They are standing by a mound which is the site of the Ironside mission house of the early 1840's.
