Meet The DC Boys; The Reggae Cowboy, The Hangatiki Kid and Handsome Mike. They are coming to Methven to perform at the Summer Sounds Methven Charity Concert on February 20th.
MAC representative Richard Sheppard said, “We are chuffed to have secured these guys as our headline act and are honoured that they have decided to acknowledge this inaugural event, by bringing forward the launch of their song “Momma Don’t" which they were planning to release in April.
The DC Boys said that they want to present it at Summer Sounds Methven in support of our event.”

The DC Boys are from the King Country and they are proud of it, their name is even derived from the King Country Weta, the DeinaCrida. They describe themselves as a country influenced modern directed trio …. "The Kings" from the country.

Although a newly formed band from October last year, the members have been crossing paths in the industry during the last 8 or 9 years. Kane aka the Hangatiki Kid said, “We met after meeting at a gig and the three of us talked and had a lot of fun. We thought we would work on a project together
and that gave birth to the idea of the The DC Boys.”

They are looking forward to coming to Methven, Kane said, “The DC Boys are excited and thankful to be given the opportunity to come down to the mainland. We are absolutely blown away by the support and Hospitality shown to us from the Methven Community and can't wait to come down and see y'all in person. We would like to thank the family of Methven and also the organizers of the event for giving The DC Boys the blessing of coming to y'all and playing in your wonderful area. Thank You Methven”

All proceeds from this year’s charity event go towards the build of the new Aged Care Facility, it is donation entry, $30 per family and $15 single, cash only. With entertainment for the kids, plenty of food choices and even a bar area, the day is set to be fun for all the family to enjoy.

The Methven Action Group (MAC) who are co-ordinating the Summer Sounds concert are requiring volunteers to assist on the day, if you are interested please contact either Sue Van Den Heuvel at
admin@methvencaretrust.co.nz or Richard Sheppard on 027 309 8233.
