An introduction into Shibori dying, unleash the creativity with this ancient Japanese textile dying technique.

In this three-hour workshop, you will learn Shibori stitch resist techniques and then the art of colouring your textile with cochineal or onion skins in specially prepared natural dye baths. By the end of the workshop, everyone will have a shibori silk scarf/sash naturally dyed to take home.

Traditional Japanese shibori stitch dye resists techniques will be explored and developed in the workshop to then be used to create your own beautiful silk scarf with a magnificent pattern, form, and colour.

Here are a few techniques that will be learned as part of the Shibori process:
- Engaging with a natural dye process
- Mokume (wood grain) stitch resist
- Investigating dye resists to create texture, pattern, colour and form to cloth
- Participating in a textile design practice
