Rocky Heron, founder of Yoga with Rocky and Yogamazé Emissary, is a world-traveling yoga teacher. Known for uncanny wisdom and skillful instruction, Rocky’s teaching is informed by years of study in nearly every yoga style. When not teaching on the road, Rocky works alongside Noah Mazé in formulating meaningful yoga curriculum. Rocky’s students deepen and inspire their practice, while consciously expanding in all directions.

Saturday Session: Arm Balances & Forward Bends 12:30-3:30pm,18th June, 2016.

This session focuses on the core, the pelvis, hips and shoulder girdle. Every arm balance is essentially comprised of other, more fundamental yoga poses (namely forward bends and hip openers), that combine with the core and upper body to create lift off. When we are unclear on what must occur at each region of the body, all too often these poses elude us and we give up, assuming we lack the strength and ability to successfully practice this family of empowering postures. Through awareness, understanding, and skillful instruction, we will explore what is truly needed to create efficacy in and around these poses. Come and crack the code to hand balancing once and for all!

Saturday Evening Luxe Session: A Quiet Practice 5:30-7:30 18th June

In this quiet, contemplative practice, we will dive into inner depths while practicing forward bends, hip openers and twists, pranayama and meditation. In this exploration of hip openers and lower body principles of alignment, you will cultivate the seeds of unfolding. This session will increase awareness, alignment and opening in your lower body, to perform forward bends, twists and seek to bring you to a blissful place of love, inner sweetness and intoxication. Finish with an acoustic savasana to lull you into deep deep relaxation.

Sunday Session: Backbends 12:30-3:30pm, 19th June, 2016

This session focuses on postures that extend the hips and spine, opening the front chain of the body and contracting the back. Through an in depth exploration of the balance of strength and mobility required in each body region, we will work intelligently to move safely through the fundamental backbends and to the threshold of intermediate backbends: Urdhva Dhanurasana.

This “gateway” backbend and its component parts will serve as our entry point into greater awareness and ultimately leverage itself into more intermediate backbends down the road. Whether you are still working on pressing up into “wheel pose”, or are looking to refine and increase its potency, there will be much to learn and experience in this exhilarating and illuminating session.
