Created in a true co-operative spirit that encompasses not only engineering and IT skills, but extends right across the school curriculum. RoboCup Junior also addresses social development by encouraging sportspersonship, sharing, teamwork, understanding of differences between individuals, co-operation & organisational skills. The competition is open to all NZ primary and secondary schools.

Students participating in RoboCup Junior New Zealand events may choose Robot Theatre, Rescue or Soccer. In Robot Theatre robots are programmed to move to music. Competitors are encouraged to give their robots real personality. This is a great entry-level activity for programmers but can also be incredibly sophisticated. The Rescue Competition mirrors the real life use of robots that rescue people from life-threatening situations. In RoboCup Soccer students are required to design and programme two robots to compete against an opposing pair of robots by kicking an infra-red transmitting ball into a designated goal.

Come along and check out the event. Much better if you get into a team and enter together!
Entries close at Friday, June 10th.
