Free public lecture
Massey University College of Creative Arts is pleased to host Dr. Alexandra Palmer's public lecture. This illustrated talk discusses why and how the Royal Ontario Museum's collection of western fashionable dress has been built over the past one hundred years and contextualises it within the textile and costume collection that holds over 50,000 pieces from across time and around the world.

Dr. Palmer will discuss acquiring key fashion collections of 18th and 19th century dress, as well as the challenges of making exhibitions with fashions that have no solid form. The lecture will include excerpts from a documentary covering the commission of a spring-summer 2011 Christian Dior haute couture gown.
