St George's Anglican Church, 1 Church St, Gate Pa, Tauranga

All Ages

With this workshop we are providing all teachers of children 3-7 years old with the new Developmental way to teach Literacy as set out by the latest (2015) recommendations by ERO and the Ministry of Education.

Imagine and create: A learning space that engages all children in literacy.

Radiate with confidence: As you are taught the explicit developmental processes of how children learn to do handwriting, learn to write ideas, learn their letters and sounds and learn to read. (Do you know there are 4 clear steps of scribbling before a child has even got half way to be developmentally ready to write letters and numbers?)

Brush Up on: The latest research from ERO and the Ministry of Education on Literacy in Early childhood, transitioning children between pre-school and school and Literacy in the first years of school.

Get ideas: On how to make writing and reading exciting, purposeful and meaningful in an age appropriate and developmentally appropriate way.

What other people are saying:
"I loved this day. I loved your passion and I loved your advocacy for childhood and offering exciting, magical and creative spaces for children that entice them into Literacy. We are so excited you are coming to talk to our parents." - Hobsonville Kindergarten

"Amazing day – I’m going away with loads of wonderful ideas to use in my New Entrant class – thanks so much. I have never been on a workshop that covers: research, developmental charts, creative ideas – and how to make it all work in the classroom. I cannot state enough how much I loved this day!" - Kohia Terrace Primary School

"I can confidently say this is the best professional development I have been on for years. We are inviting Frances back to Nelson to train all our kindergarten teachers." - Dr Bradley Hannigan, Senior/Executive Advisor for Nelson Tasman District of Kindergarten Association
