Philip Trusttum

Trusttum’s work is as informed by a vigorous optimism as it is by his sense of humour. His epically proportioned paintings deal with the paraphernalia and seemingly extraneous remainders of everyday life, and often pointedly reference many of New Zealand’s cultural obsessions. In this series he turns his focus to domestic duties; anthropomorphic vacuum cleaners, brooms, mops and buckets appear amplified in juxtaposition with equally enlarged cheap masks and finger puppets, strung together in a diary-like sequence.

Floortalk: Saturday 7 May at 2pm with the artist and Director. Entry by koha.
