Bodytok Quintet is an interactive, five-screen, video/audio exhibition of the unique sounds people can make with only their body.

The recorded performances are part of an on-going archive collected by artist Phil Dadson, and Phil’s asking for participation from our community to add to them.

If you have a unique sound-making skill, you’re invited to contribute!

These recordings will feature in the exhibition at MTG, on display from 11 June 2016.

Bodytok recording sessions will take place at MTG Hawke’s Bay over the weekend of April 30th and May 1st, between the hours of 10 - 12am and 1 - 4pm.

The human body is the very first instrument, with sonic potential as inventive as any other known instrument. From childhood we explore the sounds we can make with our bodies, often discovering individual skills and quirks that get practised privately and occasionally ‘performed’ to entertain our family and friends. These sounds form the content of Bodytok.

Anyone with a ‘bodytok’ skill is welcome to audition.

Each audition is recorded privately on video by the artist, without an audience (unless requested).
Permission for inclusion in the project is sought from each contributor.
All on-screen performances remain anonymous and are included at the discretion of the artist.
If you’d like to contribute to this upcoming exhibition project contact Jess Mio to register.
