Music Canterbury

The National Concerto Competition is a competition for young classical musicians aged under 25 years. The competition is in its 49th year and this year it is Instrumental. The Preliminaries and Semi-Finals were held in December 2015 where 3 Finalists were chosen.

They are Kate Oswin (Christchurch) who is playing Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 4 by Jean Sibelius; Heather Lewis-Baker (Wellington) is playing Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 by Edward Elgar and Sam Lucas (Hamilton) is playing Schelomo: Rhapsodie Hébraïque for Violoncello and Orchestra by Ernest Bloch. The finalists will be accompanied by the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.

Please come along and support these young very talented musicians!
