All Ages

The coast and hills of the Coromandel valley are the perfect setting for nature and landscape photography. This course will explore both the techniques of developing your unique perspective and improving technical skills, as well as the ability to be mindful in the moment. We’ll explore the peaceful feeling of being in the artistic “flow” and how that can be expanded with meditation. We’ll have time for shooting in the lovely beaches and hills, and group discussion about composition and editing. You’ll be challenged with a scavenger hunt to try new ways of shooting. Aimed at amateur photographers – bring whatever camera you like, a way to transfer your photos to USB, and, if you have any, additional equipment like tripods. Good tramping shoes a must!

Since it’s Easter weekend, you might like to book an extra night and stay till Monday to have more time to explore the Coromandel and take advantage of the arts festival, or enjoy the many options to take more photos and have some fun.

Led by Sarah Brooks, who studied photography and holds a BA cum laude in Art. While she has been published and sold photos, she prefers to practice it as a life-long enjoyable hobby, and explores how to shoot and edit without investments in very expensive and complicated equipment. Samples of her photos are on the Mahamudra Centre website.

Pre-registration required. Course and meals fee $160; plus accommodation. Course begins with dinner at 6:00pm on Friday and runs through 3:30pm Sunday. A suggested list of things to bring will be provided when registering.
