We never know when our life might end, and being prepared for illness and death can bring tremendous peace of mind for ourselves and our family.

This day-long workshop will be co-presented by Venerable Lozang Yӧnten, who brings a Buddhist point of view on developing a happy mind and what happens to the body and mind at the time of death, along with Christine Murphy from Amitabha Hospice, who brings experience working with the bereaved and logistical issues at the time of death. This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn some new perspectives and have an open discussion about facing our mortality.

Havalona Pyramid in Coromandel Town, a special community venue designed as a healing space. The Havalona Pyramid is located on Driving Creek Road just behind the Driving Creek Café. Turn at the wood “Havalona” sign and go up the small hill to the Pyramid and parking area.

Offered on a donation basis. Drop-ins welcome but please plan to attend the entire workshop. The group will walk down to the Driving Creek Café for the lunch break.

Venerable Lozang Yönten has studied and practiced Buddhism in Australia, India, Taiwan, and the US since 1994, and has been ordained as a Buddhist nun in the Tibetan tradition since 2003. She has a very engaging, lively, and interactive way of teaching and joyfully shares her wealth of knowledge. She is an FPMT In-Depth Buddhism Registered Teacher.

Christine Murphy is the manager of Amitabha hospice which offers free practical home help and compassionate companionship for the elderly and the incurably ill of any age and their families in Auckland. Christine is a fully qualified counsellor (Dip. Counselling, HD+T) and brings to this workshop her experience helping the bereaved and knowledge of New Zealand services for end of life care.
