Cabaret La Vie - is a Christchurch Pop Up Concert Series production - a highly successful artist led post EQ creative communities initiative that has been travelling around Canterbury since 2012 featuring a selection of Canterbury's top independent touring concert musicians/ songwriter/composers and entertainers all coming together to present individual work and in various collaborations.

Scottish born urban folk blues jazz singer songwriter Isabella (Izzy) Miller Bell Aka Ma Bell plays mistress of Ceremonies to introduce a superb line up of guests in a theatrical cabaret environment echoing bygone eras with elements of vaudeville and music hall theatre woven in to encourage participation and frivolity.

Ma Bell's Guests for this Queens Birthday Celebration (any excuse) in Akaroa includes the Duchess of Gloucester, the Grande Dame of stage and television the inimitable and outrageous Janice Gray with highly accomplished singer pianist Elizabeth Braggins. Radius (Harry Harrison and Justine S) just off a national tour with a new album join the lineup along with two of the South's finest exponents of the acoustic tradition Jon Maxim Hooker & James Wilkinson. Prepare to meet the infamous Madame Tragédie who cracks her whip to bring together her troupe of travelling troubadours to go in search of a paradise lost - with tall tales and songs in the key of life Madame Tragédie leaves no stone unturned, from birth to death with all the juicy bits in between.

You can expect to hear some top shelf acoustic roots based blues and Jazz mingled with laughter and tears, high brow art music and low Glaswegian banter.

Join us if you dare - Not recommended for the fainthearted - This is a BYO event. Doors open 7pm. - Concert 7-30.
