Our Events, Exhibitions & Workshops for September, October, November 2016

24 September - 16 October: ‘The entwine of modern hands’
Twenty artists from across Tai Tokerau explore modern application of traditional techniques in this textural show; interweaving fabric, fibre, form, function, skills and stories.

3 - 7 October: Tamariki Toi - School Holiday Art Programme
Fun workshops for the second week of the holidays inspired by our textile show - quilting, weaving, poi making & storytelling (writing & film, thanks to Channel North). Open for students 9-18 years. Registration essential, $10/student.

21 October - 11 November: ‘Let there be light’ – Bruce MacGregor
An illuminated solo show by Kerikeri artist Bruce MacGregor expresses the creation story with both Māori and Biblical references, works include; paintings, prints, sculpture, interior lighting and object art.

Sunday 30 October, 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm: Aroha Harris, Tangata Whenua: An Illustrated History of Māori (2016)
Celebrate New Zealand Book Week with author Aroha Harris (Ngāpuhi, Te Rarawa). A member of the Waitangi Tribunal and lecturer in history at The University of Auckland, Aroha Harris will be sharing her work and insight in a public talk, followed by presentations by local Northland authors. Thanks to New Zealand Society of Authors (Northland) and Foundation North.

18 November - 20 December: Te Whakaputa - The Emergence
We reveal 20 artists who participated in our Art Incubator, a series of winter workshops evolving and developing unique works that reflect each artist and Te Tai Tokerau - Northland, for a summer 2016-17 range.
