Title: A Boy Called H
Director: Yasuo Furuhata
Released: 2013
Running Time: 122 Min
Genre: Drama
Rated: M

Based on Kappa Senoh's 3.4 million selling autobiographical novel, this film set during the first half of the 1940s is a coming of age story with a twist, featuring a young boy named Hajime (nicknamed "H"). Their family is quite worldly compared to their community, his mother is a devout Christian and his father is a tailor working with many expatriates in Kobe. As patriotic World War II unfolds, Hajime's understanding of the world is challenged but his survival spirit shines through.
