"THE" place to start walking/jogging further than you ever imagined, for local events in Rotorua this coming Spring:
- 10km Rotorua Running Festival
- Half Marathon
- Tarawera Trail Marathon
- Tarawera 50km Ultra
- the 'long run' for your 1/4 or 1/2 ironman
- Rotorua Marathon events 2017

There will be representatives from various Rotorua community fitness groups and Coaches who can help you get fit over winter.

Coach Krazy Kerris has also put together a comprehensive free program for first-timers and improvers to walk or jog your way into an epic longer event this Winter. No one gets left behind. Ever.

Kerris will also give you a list of different training options through Jogging the Powerpoles group and the Freedom Walkers, along with excellent sessions run by other clubs and coaching such as Rotorua Trail Running Club, RATS bunchrides, Henk Greupink, SBR swimming, BHB Fitness, TrueFit, and other local volunteer training options.

Are you fit enough? May (swim/bike) and June (running/walking) are Beginner months and all beginners are encouraged to come to some of the easy sessions for all abilities - schedules will be listed on here. From the 1st of July, the proper distance training program will commence, and by then you will know if it works for you.

Walkers: Yes, the Tarawera Trail is one of very few ultra 50km distances that are extremely generous with cutoff times for walkers. The only cutoff is 4pm at Buried Village for 35km (8 hours), and you can literally crawl the rest of the way if you wanted. So that's a very generous 13+ minutes per km pace for the first 35km. Simply put, your distance training is far more important than any 'speed' goals for completing this event!
