Description:
This 4 hour workshop has been designed for professional and semi-pro photographers who are wanting to print their work to a high level. It would also suit recent college graduates who wish to increase their technical knowledge. This workshop will provide participants with expert advice about colour management, paper handling & inkjet printing.

The following information will be covered:
-Understanding file formats
-Understanding colour spaces
-Basic & advanced colour management
-Sharpening do’s & don’ts
-Judging print colour & quality
-Custom paper profiles & how to make one
-Characteristics of different paper stocks, eg. Epson, Ilford & Hahnemuhle
-Paper handling & storage
-Printer operation & maintenance

In addition the tutor will be available to answer questions attendees may have about the specific printer models they own.
The tutor will bring printed samples on different paper stocks to demonstrate 'judging colour and print quality' & the specific characteristics of different stocks.
He will also demonstrate printmaking on the Epson 3880 and will supply the paper stock and ink. Attendees will have the opportunity to print an image they have printed before through the Tutor’s calibrated and profiled system.

Tutor:
Sanji Karu is a photographer and the owner/operator of Skar Image Lab. His lab provides high resolution film scanning & small/large format inkjet printing for Visual Artists. He works one on one with his clients, providing a personalised service aimed at producing high quality prints.

Requirements:
-Attendees must have experience using their own photo quality printer in a home, office or studio environment.
-Attendees should bring an image they have printed before and the corresponding digital file.
